Our Heron Hill and Kendal Care Home teams had a fabulous couple of days at this prestigious event which has been running now for over 200 years. The show itself brings together communities, showcasing not only rural life but local crafts, food, businesses as well as interactive Learning for Life displays.
Our teams were able to engage with the visitors and schools promoting and demonstrating some of the lifestyle activities we do with our residents. As well as helping people in respect of their loved ones, advising on care options, funding, and how to access care resources that may support them.
We were also able to share our knowledge of dementia care to groups of local school children and their teachers in our Dementia Awareness talks, which not only did they enjoyed but the interaction of sharing new ideas on how they may be able to help those living with this disease in their community was incredible
It truly was an amazing event which is run by volunteers who highlight farming life, local business as well as supporting their local community especially through these last 18 months and what an honour to attend a show that due to all their hard work and community commitment, have this year received “The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service”.
